I have 20+ years of experience working hands-on across software development, product management, and design. I love cleaning up messes, refactoring, streamlining, and troubleshooting systems of all kinds. My flexibility, pragmatism, and wide experience opens up the solution space I explore and the tools I employ. I operate with high ethical standards for mutual respect, equity, and empathy.

I’m looking to work with start ups and scale ups with EPD orgs of 50 and under, and especially those where organizational or technological evolution is needed. Having seen SoundCloud through a decade of growth spurts, I’m eager to help other teams make these critical transitions.

Professional Experience

SoundCloud – 2011-2022

Working across software development, product management and design, I repeatedly defined my own role and tackled business-critical problems, and was a sought-after consultant for many initiatives. As a cultural leader, I shaped SoundCloud’s inclusive work environment.

2020-2022: VP of Engineering, Growth & Commerce

  • Drove strategic technical changes to support international expansion, data-driven growth, and targeted marketing.
  • Evolved hiring and promotion processes for fairness and efficiency.
  • Steered and represented the Engineering Leadership Team during leadership upheaval.
  • Ultimately led 100+ people in 12 teams delivering customer-facing products.

2017-2019: Engineering Director, Payments & Marketing Tech

  • Rebuilt the business-critical Payments Team post layoffs, and grew it from 2 to 10 people.
  • Led the stabilization of the team’s multi-platform tech stack, reducing faults and eliminating reporting delays.
  • Launched two new subscription products, introduced 3D Secure, and expanded currencies and payment methods.
  • Reduced involuntary churn by 15% with data-driven initiatives.
  • Defined and built out Marketing Tech team.

2015-2017: Product Manager & Tech Lead, Authentication

  • Created the Sign-in Team to modernize and simplify the authentication user experience and tech stack.
  • Was Product Manager and in-house consultant for authentication, authorization, and other security topics.
  • Brought single sign-on to the domain, and implemented novel security features and sign-in methods.
  • Increased sign up rates by 20% with data-driven initiatives.

2011-2015: Developer — Tech Lead — Product Manager — UX & Product Designer

  • PM, designer, and lead developer of SoundCloud’s user administration system, which became an indispensable tool for diagnosing and solving end-user issues.
  • Built self-serve tools for customer support that reduced case resolution times from days to minutes.
  • Extended SoundCloud’s microservices and core systems with auditable administrative functionality.
  • Designed and implemented all three sides (uploader, rightsholder, backoffice) of SoundCloud’s content dispute resolution flow, with a focus on fast and fair resolutions.
